The short version
We use Google Analytics to count visits and to see which papers get read. It runs only if you press Accept on the cookie banner. If you decline, or ignore it, no analytics cookie is set and no measurement data is sent. You can change your mind at any time using Cookie settings at the foot of any page.
We sell nothing here, run no advertising, share no data with advertisers, and have no mailing list to add you to.
What is collected, and only after you accept
Google Analytics 4 records the following about a visit. None of it identifies you by name, and we never attempt to combine it with anything that would.
- Pages and events
- Which pages you opened, in what order, when, and how long you stayed.
- Approximate location
- Country, region and city, derived by Google from your IP address. Google discards the full IP address and does not log or store it for Analytics.
- Device and browser
- Device type, operating system, browser, screen size and language.
- How you arrived
- The referring site or campaign, if there was one.
- Cookies
- A first-party measurement cookie named
_gaand one named_ga_ZW6E6TQPFB, used to tell a returning visit from a new one. They are set only after you accept, and both are removed if you later decline. - Your consent choice
- Stored in your own browser under
tdf-consentso the banner does not ask again. It stays on your device and is never sent to us or to Google.
Why, on what basis, and for how long
Why. To understand whether the papers are read and which are worth writing more of. That is the entire purpose.
Legal basis. Your consent, given through the banner. Analytics storage is denied by default under Google Consent Mode, so nothing is stored before you choose. Withdrawing is as easy as giving, through the same banner.
How long. Analytics data is retained by Google for no more than fourteen months, after which it is deleted automatically. Aggregate counts, such as how many people read a given paper in a month, may be kept longer and contain nothing about an individual visit.
Who else sees it. Google, as our analytics processor, and nobody else. Google's handling is described in its privacy policy.
Hosting. The site is served as static files by GitHub Pages, which processes the network request needed to deliver the page under its own privacy statement.
Your choices
Press Cookie settings at the foot of any page to accept or decline at any time. Declining after having accepted deletes the measurement cookies from your browser immediately.
If you are in the UK, the EU or another jurisdiction with equivalent law, you have the right to ask what is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. Because we hold no account and no contact details for you, we generally cannot connect a visit to a person even when asked, which is a limitation rather than an evasion.

Changes
If this site ever adds a form, a mailing list or anything else that collects information about you directly, this page will be updated before that goes live and the banner will ask again. Last updated 5 September 2026.
